Anyity

ITAM App for Salesforce version 1.13 “Winter 2027” is available now on AppExchange. This release is about two moments every asset manager knows well: the first day, when the org is empty and there is nothing to record assets against, and the bad day, when someone disposes of the wrong laptop and the record can’t be fixed.

A ready-made catalog, loaded in one click

Every asset in ITAM App belongs to an Asset Type, and until now each organization had to build those types, their properties, departments, categories and disposal reasons by hand before recording a single asset.

Version 1.13 adds a Default Data wizard to the Settings page. It ships with a catalog of 100 asset types in twelve families, from laptops and monitors to network switches, SaaS subscriptions and drones, each with the properties it should track. It also includes starter departments, asset categories and disposal reasons.

  • Pick only what you need. Choose whole families or single types, then untick any property your company doesn’t record.
  • Nothing you have is overwritten. Records that already exist with the same name are reused as they are.
  • Changed your mind? Undo it. Every load is listed on the card and can be taken back with one click, as long as nothing uses its records yet.

Disposals you can correct

Disposal is the last step in an asset’s life, and until now it was also the hardest to fix. In 1.13:

  • Record the real disposal date. A new Disposal date field captures when the asset actually left your inventory, and you can backdate it. The date also appears on the Asset Unit for reporting.
  • Edit or undo a disposal. Asset admins can change a disposal’s reason, description or date at any time. If the wrong asset was disposed, delete the disposal and the asset goes back to the status it had before.
  • Dispose of assets under repair directly. Assets in Repair or Warranty can now be disposed without first moving them back to Available, which reverses the restriction introduced in 1.5. Assets that are In Use or Reserved still need to come back to the Asset Admin first, and an asset can’t be disposed twice.

Fewer records frozen by changes elsewhere

Archiving an asset owner, or turning off an admin’s “Can manage assets”, used to lock every transfer and request that named them. Those records stay editable now: the checks apply when someone is chosen, not forever afterwards.

Under the hood

ITAM App now ships as a Salesforce second-generation managed package. You won’t see a difference day to day, but it gives us a faster, more reliable release process. This version also fixes background updates to assets, which could fail when Salesforce ran them as batch jobs.

Upgrading

Install 1.13 over your current version and your data stays as it is. Existing disposals get their creation date as their disposal date, which you can correct afterwards.

Salesforce doesn’t change page layouts in an existing org during an upgrade, so add Disposal date and Previous asset status to your Disposal page layout. The upgrade guide lists all the steps, and Load default data walks through the new wizard.
